Haulout

Dickson Marine has an excellent haulout and sealed hardstand facility and also has its own berth beside the travelift dock for your convenience. Our travelift operators are highly experienced and are dedicated to ensuring the safe and careful handling of your vessel.

Our 50 tonne marine travelift handles boats up to 80 ft (24.4m) long and up to a maximum width of 19.6 ft (6 m). All boats are washed down before being set down in our yard which is adjacent to the travelift dock.

Washdown Service

Whether your boat needs a bottom-clean to remove fouling or simply in these times of Bio security Awareness you are acting responsibly to avoid the spread of unwanted marine matter, you can simply book a lift and hold and we will washdown/blast and do the cleaning for you.

Hardstand

Dickson Marine has a sealed secure hardstand area of 18000 sq ft where you can store and work on your boat. We provide stands, and water and 3 phase power are available and are included in the daily hardstand rate. We have both laundry and ablution facilities available for your convenience. Our friendly team of boatbuilders will be available to provide assistance to you if required.

Monitoring/ Maintenance Facilities

Dickson Marine’s team of experienced boat builders is available to monitor the safety and security of your boat when you are not. We can tailor our monitoring program to suit your requirements from the simplest of visual checks. Our experienced staff, who are all keen sailors, will check that your vessel is securely moored, that all systems are operational (weekly or monthly startup service). In addition we can provide a washdown service or we can take care of any of your maintenance requirements so that your vessel is ready for use on your arrival.

Painting

At Dickson Marine we know that painting your boat is not just a matter of protection and preservation of your valuable asset but also a matter of pride in its appearance. Shipwrights

With the variety of strong boatbuilding skills practiced by our staff, Dickson Marine is able to offer expert shipwright service to vessels calling at the Port of Nelson. We understand that with short turnaround times in port you need immediate service for your vessels and we have considerable experience servicing the local fishing fleets and meeting their tight timeframe's. Our rates are competitive and our service second to none. We will also travel to Picton and Havelock to service your requirements.

Naval Architecture

Dickson Marine has access to the finest naval architects and boat designers and works closely with them to achieve the outcomes you desire. Whether you contract the design of your newbuild or extension/modification directly with a designer or choose to do it through us, the end result will be the quality boat you are proud to own. Joinery and Cabinet Making/Interior Fitouts

The team at Dickson Marine includes a number of highly skilled cabinet makers and joiners who simply love doing beautiful interiors. They will create the interior you dream about and work closely with you to achieve it.

Internet

We know how important it is for you to stay in touch with the rest of the world when you are visiting us so we have partnered with an internet service provider to provide wireless services into the marina.

You will notice if you view wireless networks on your computer a hotspot service called Altra, connect to that for our service.
You can either use your credit card or buy a voucher at the Dickson office to use the service.

There are many plans to choose from via the payment gateway to suit your length of stay and you don't even have to be a Dickson customer to use the service.

International Refits

Low Cost | High Quality | International Boat Transfer

UK, European, US and Australian Owners. We can undertake major refits for you at significant savings compared to the cost of a refit in a US, European or Australian yard. Our labour rates are around £20 / €30 / US$35 / A$45 per hour, and there is no sales tax (GST / VAT) on refits of international yachts. The vagaries of international pricing means that materials too are often cheaper in New Zealand.

Our staff are top-line boat builders and shipwrights, a number of whom have international yachting experience. New Zealand does not win international yacht races by accident – the workmanship is amongst the best in the world and is undertaken by staff who know how much the quality of their work means when the sailing is hard – or when the drinks are being poured.
